Retail therapy......

Regular readers of this blog will know that I am partial to the odd flagon glass of wine and that my tipple of choice has to be a nicely chilled NZ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Up till now we've stored our wine in this.....

Hardly a thing of beauty I'm sure you'll agree, but it was cheap and did the job, hidden away behind the door in the dining room.

However, this week, PP espied this on Facebook......

.... and it was love at first sight.  Which is why it it now takes pride of place at the end of the dining room, in an alcove that might have been made for it.

Geographically local blog readers might like to check out Secondhand Rose Ltd on Facebook.  They're based in Eastbourne and post all new stock on their FB page.  They find some lovely stuff and regularly sell old pine furniture and all manner of household items.

We're really rather chuffed with our new purchase which has just one teeny, weeny, niggly, naggly drawback...... it holds 30 bottles!  Which means it just might take some time to fill......

It only holds 30 bottles?! (Haha, just kidding. ;) )

Just wanted to comment and share my appreciation for NZ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, too. LOVE that stuff!

You could fill the empty spaces with empty bottles. Maybe not the clear ones but the tinted ones would be pretty. Gosh, just think of all the other wonderful things you could put in it - dolls, toys, a round tin of shortbread biscuits, bouquet of flowers .....

There are so many things you could put in those empty spaces besides wine bottles (until you get them filled with the "real" thing - dolls, toys, tube of shortbread biscuits, flowers, doggy treats (to be found by a very clever dog).....

Thanks for all the suggestions... must admit I hadn't thought of filling it with empties. Inspired idea!
Not so sure about doggy treats. Small Dog is strangely fascinated with it already so I'm not convinced that making it any more attractive to her would be a good idea.

Also she might get her head stuck.
