Miserable Monday.......

It would appear that my prognostication of dire weather following St. Swithin's Day was correct.  It has rained more or less steadily all day and light levels have been only marginally in the daylight range.  It's also been really windy.... just for a change.

And to top it all off it's bloody cold.

I'd have more sympathy with the weather if it was making even the slightest concession to the fact that it's mid-July and the rain was at least lukewarm.  Today though it's felt like mid-November and I'm thoroughly fed up.

Small Dog has barely stirred from beneath the blanket in her basket, going out only under duress and for the bare minimum of time required to do her ablutions and return to the warmth of her cosy nest.

I know just how she feels.

However I have made a virtue of necessity and done a few hour's casting, followed by dressing a new little toy doll and completing a miniature toy theatre I started on Friday.

So the day hasn't been a complete washout workwise.

I just really feel the need for some cheering sunshine for more than just a few fleeting hours every fourth day.

*sigh*

You can blame me!

Having been born on St Swithin's day it's always been my fault if it rained (according to my dad anyway!!)

Hmmm - well we had NO rain yesterday, so as far as I'm concerned, it being a rubbish wet, cold , blowy day today, St. Swithun has let me down badly!

so should I bring a parka made for our Cdn arctic when I come? A skidoo suit for all terrain outdoor weather? Or just hope for the best?
Also do you guys have stores that sell Shetland wool snuggies? Over here it's a kind of wrap around blanket with sleeves and a zipper.

Karin...

I should come prepared for ALL eventualities.
And yes, we do have blankets with sleeves if you get caught short in an unseasonal blizzard.

Robin....

I've given up on the whole concept of summer for this year.

This is what happens when they call a drought!

Sandra....
did your weather predictors happen to mention where the drought would occur?

I believe we've got your drought!! Could we trade ....at least between July 31 and Aug 16????? Please, pretty please......

Karin...

We DID have a drought over most of the southeast of the UK in the early part of this year. Hosepipe bans in force... the works.
However, since April it's rained pretty much non-stop so all the drought orders have been lifted.

Your holiday dates might be lucky... the weather is supposed to improve over the coming weeks in advance of the Olympics. Fingers crossed!
